October 4, 2023: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has collected property tax of Rs 579 crore in the first six months (April-September) of the property tax collection period. More than 60% of taxpayers contributed towards the PCMC contribution in this period.
According to FPJ, PCMC has around 6,07,000 registered properties that include residential, industrial, commercial, mixed-use and vacant lands. From this, 3, 66, 636 individuals accounted for the 60% tax payers. Of the Rs 580 crore, Rs 370.83 crore was collected online, Rs 5.87 crore was collected through mobile apps, Rs 74.54 crore was collected in cash, Rs 57.43 crore via cheque, Rs 26.46 crore through RTGS transfers, Rs 6.46 crore via EDC payments, Rs 4.54 crore through NEFT transactions and Rs 3.64 crore through DD payments.
The PCMC has incorporated Project Siddhi, where women self-help groups distributed 100% of the property tax bills. Also, women self-help groups have been employed to conduct PCMC property registration drives, said Shekhar Singh, PCMC Commissioner, as per media reports.
Effective October 1, 2023, the PCMC started levying a penalty of 2% as late fee for property owners who didn’t pay tax in the first half of the period. The municipal corporation is expecting to collect the remaining of the property tax from the pending 40% of taxpayers in the second half of the tax collection period (October- March).

- Till September 30, 2022 PCMC saw 2, 45, 844 property owners pay Rs 364 crore as property tax.
- Till September 30, 2023 PCMC saw 3, 66,636 property owners pay Rs 580 crore as property tax.
