October 26, 2023: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the inauguration ceremony of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir, scheduled on January 22, 2024, he said on October 25. The announcement was made by the PM after he met office bearers of the Ram Janambhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, the body entrusted with overseeing the construction of the upcoming temple in Ayodhya.
After a Supreme Court judgement that paved way for construction of the temple, Modi performed the bhumi poojan ceremony on August 5, 2020, and laid the foundation stone of the temple.
The trust formally invited the PM for the consecration (pran pratishtha) ceremony of the Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya, he shared on social media.
“Today is a day full of emotions. The officials of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust had come to meet me at my residence. They have invited me to come to Ayodhya on the occasion of consecration of Shri Ram temple. I feel very blessed. It is my good fortune that in my lifetime, I will witness this historic occasion,” read the post by the PM on micro blogging site X, previously Twitter.

The temple trust also shared the news on the same platform. “Hon’ble Prime Minister ji will perform Prana Pratishtha of Shri Vigraha of Bhagwan Shri Ramlalla Sarkar in Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir on 22 January 2024,” the trust said in its post on X.
Spanning 54,700 sq ft, the temple area covers nearly 2.7 acres of land. The entire Ram Mandir Complex would be spread over nearly 70 acre. It will be equipped to host about a million devotees at any time.
The trust plans to keep the temple open for darshan for 12 hours a day. Devotees may be able to get a glimpse of Ram Lalla for 20 seconds. Based on that timeframe, at least 1.5 lakh devotees will be able to get a glimpse of the Bal Roop of Lord Ram (Lord Ram as a child) at the temple, Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra general-secretary Champat Rai has said earlier.
