The Rajasthan government has approved a budget of Rs 204.81 crore for the expansion of the Jaipur Metro project. As per media report, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has given financial approval for the development of Jaipur Metro’s Phase 1D (Mansarovar to Ajmer Road intersection) aimed at making the facility more accessible for the citizens.
The chief minister announced the government’s plans to expand the Jaipur Metro from Badi Chaupar to Transport Nagar under Phase 1C and from Mansarovar to Ajmer Road intersection under Phase 1D in 2022-23.
Developed in phases, the Jaipur metro is operated by the Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (JMRC). Currently, the north-south corridor of the Jaipur metro connects Mansarovar in Jaipur to Badi Chaupar via Civil Lines and Chandpole. It covers a total distance of 12 km. It comprises 11 stations, namely Mansarovar, New Aatish Market, Vivek Vihar, Shyam Nagar, Ram Nagar, Civil Line, Railway Station, Sindhi Camp, Chandpole, Chhoti Chaupar and Badi Chaupar.
