A little more than 3 years ago, Housing.com set out to solve a massive problem – making real estate in India more transparent and trustworthy. An idea born out of the struggle faced by our founders to find a decent home in the big city, our dream at the outset was to ensure that everybody had a hassle-free experience while searching for their next home. At the time, it wasn’t relevant to us whether our users were interested in buying or renting. We wanted to help everyone, because we sincerely believed that we had a big role to play in cleaning up the murky real estate sector.
Through this journey we saw many exhilarating highs. We were the first online real estate portal in the world to hit 1,000,000 verified listings this August, within just three years of starting out. Back in April, we also became the real estate portal of choice in the country, with 11 Million+ website visits, and our real estate app on the Google Play Store got over 1.2 Million app installs. Not to mention the many innovations by our teams in Technology, Product Design, Engineering, and DSL – Map View, Heat Maps, Child-Friendliness Index, Housing Lifestyle Rating, Slice View, Home Loans, Online Rental Agreements, and so many more. We truly have had a great run, all thanks to you!
But (yes, there is a but) tackling the problem of home search requires unwavering focus. While we started out with several verticals where we could help resolve this issue, namely PGs, Rent, Buy and Resale, and Land & Plots, we’ve had to take the tough decision of focusing only on one – Buy. With your continued support, we believe that Housing.com can still achieve everything it was created for – a simplified, transparent and convenient home search.
We are packing up our beloved Rentals, Rental Agreements, Flatmates, and PG/Hostels by February end. You will stop seeing these sections of the website and app thereafter. So, act fast! If there are Landlords or Agents you want to contact, Rental Agreements you need to download, potential Flatmates you want to reach out to, and PGs you want to scout for, now’s the time to do it. The change is big, but it’s for the better. Much better! We have a lot in store for you in the new Buy. So keep an eye out as new features are rolled out over the next few months.
