Pataudi Palace History

In 1900, the palace was designed by Architect Robert Tor Russel in collaboration with Karl Moltz Von Heinz, an Austrian architect in 1972. The Pataudi Palace was built on the lines of the colonial-era mansions of Imperial Delhi at the request of Iftikhar Ali Khan (1910–52), the 8th Nawab of Pataudi. The mansion, also known as “Ibrahim Kothi”, was passed down from the last governing nawab, Iftikhar Ali Khan, to his son, the last acknowledged titular nawab, Mansoor Ali Khan, and is now owned by his son Saif Ali Khan, who utilises it as ancestral property.

After Iftikhar Ali Khan’s passing, the mansion was given to their son Mansoor Ali Khan and his wife, Sharmila Tagore. The Nawab family did not have much time after Mansoor Ali Khan’s passing to maintain this enormous palace, so from 2005 until 2014, they leased it to the Neemrana Hotel Group. Saif Ali Khan and his kin had no legal right to the Pataudi Palace at the time.

The Chote Nawab was only offered to purchase it back in 2014, and he accepted. This ended the palace’s tenure as a resort and allowed for its transformation into the family vacation home it is now.

During the pandemic in 2020, the family stayed in their ancestral home for more than a month.

The Pataudi palace is equipped with opulent amenities and has been the venue for several events such as weddings and birthdays.

Between the two of them, Saif is into his books a lot. We know it, because we see these in the pics and as Kareena gives away those details in her interviews. One of the oft-seen backgrounds is the library – a rustic looking sweet spot with photos and memorabilia from their trips, Taimur’s baby days and loads and loads of books! We have also spotted Kareena’s girl gang – Karisma Kapoor, Malaika Arora and Amrita Arora posing for may selfies, too. You would have also seen Saif’s kids with Amrita Singh – Ibrahim and Sara Ali Khan pose in this library.

Little Taimur’s playroom

Young parents are always looking out for ideas to engage their kids and do up their playrooms. Taimur has a beautiful and colourful room, stacked with toys, where he plays with his cousin sister, Inaaya or has fun with his half-siblings Sara and Ibrahim. Ritakshi of Bibs N Cribs designed this room which has natural light all through the day. While the toys and upholstery add colour, the backdrop of this room is light, almost ivory. The flooring is wood, which provides a good contrast. Well, while Taimur grew up so far in Fortune Heights in Mumbai, his little brother will be brought up in the new home.

Before the arrival of Tim’s brother, the couple was seen preparing a new home in Mumbai. Saif and Kareena were overseeing the construction / renovation of their new property. The duo have been spotted at their new place on and off, as per reports.

The new property in Satguru Sharan is a building next door to Fortune Heights in Mumbai, which has been the star couple’s residence for the last 11 years. However, the new one is much bigger.

We have often seen the star couple at their home, Fortune Heights, in Mumbai, thanks to the social media sites. There are many design features of the house in the gated complex that reminds us of the Vintage era. Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor House also features impressive vintage art pieces. Both, Saif and Kareena, love England and the decor of the new house is inspired by the colonial-classic style.
