April 10, 2024: The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has made it compulsory for all residents to self-certify their properties in order to avail government services. An order to this effect was issued on April 9. As per a TOI report with the new ruling, any one who wants access to any government documents such as birth certificate, marriage certificate etc. should first self-certify. This data will correct the data in the property tax database.

All property owners in Gurgaon have to necessarily do self-certification of property tax data to execute sale, purchase, lease or rent registrations at the revenue department office. As per a TOI report, the decision was made in a review meeting chaired by Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) commissioner Narhari Singh Banger on April 2.
With the self-certification, it will be established that the data given by property owners such as name, address, plot size etc. are correct that will help generate accurate tax bills.
To self-certify, property owners in Gurgaon have to log on to property.ulbharyana.gov.in. Outstanding dues if any have to be paid and a no-objection certificate (NOC) should be obtained. Anyways, an NOC is compulsory for property registration.
The MCG will train the resident welfare associations (RWAs) with property self-certification. They in turn will help residents to self-certify their properties. Also, as per the ToI report, self-certification is also compulsory for properties in Gurgaon that are under the ownership of other government agencies.
