The Tamil Nadu Housing Board (TNHB) has allotted 464 plots at four sites in Trichy through lots. Around 894 plots ranging from 345 sq ft to 2,400 sq ft went for allocation through the TNHB office at KK Nagar. The process of allotment of plots to the beneficiaries was live streamed to ensure transparency.

Earlier, applications were issued to buy plots in Navalpattu phase 1 and phase 2, area development scheme plots and plots at the Valavanthankottai project site. On November 17, 2022, about 205 plots were allocated at the Navalpattu phase 1 site, which is the highest among the four locations. About 96 plots were allotted under phase 2 near Navalpattu’s phase 1 site through the manual lot system. In the Valavanthankottai project site, the housing board allotted only 24 plots owing to lesser demand.

As per a TOI report, plots that were not allotted under the lucky draw will be notified through a separate newspaper announcement. Beneficiaries will be invited to purchase the plots by paying the total land cost. The draw of lot system may not be followed in the second level of allocation.

The next round of allocation will be conducted in December 2022. Navalpattu project sites promoted by TNHB, which mentioned the proximity of the project location to Trichy-Pudukottai NH, the ordnance factory and Trichy IT Park, witnessed sizeable demand compared to other project sites. According to the officials, interested people can call the TNHB office at 0431-2420614 for further information on site allotment.

Further, Chief Minister MK Stalin has directed officials to allot housing tenements to 677 retired workers of Tamil Nadu Tea Plantation Corporation (TANTEA), who were unable to vacate their houses belonging to the State PSU.

As per an official release, the CM has directed officials to allot the housing units that were constructed by the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board. The state government will bear the beneficiary contribution for all these workers, which has to be paid by these retired workers.
