February 6, 2024: The Uttar Pradesh finance minister Suresh Khanna presented the annual Budget for the fiscal year 2024-25 in the state assembly on February 5, 2024. The state government announced the budget outlay for key infrastructural projects with an allocation of Rs 2057.76 crore for the 594-kilometre Ganga Expressway. The state government has announced a financial plan with a budget allocation of Rs 7.36 lakh crore for the upcoming fiscal year.
The Ganga Expressway route will connect Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Budaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh and Prayagraj. The expressway route will pass through several districts between Meerut and Prayagraj via Varanasi. The government plans to make the Ganga Expressway operational before the 2025 Prayagraj Maha Kumbh Mela. It has allotted a budget of Rs 2,500 crore for the preparation of the Maha Kumbh Mela in 2025.

According to a Hindustan Times report, the state government plans to develop industrial clusters along all expressways and to link the Agra-Lucknow Expressway and Purvanchal Expressway with a budget allocation of Rs 500 crore.
With the key focus on Ayodhya, the government has allocated Rs 100 crore for the overall development of Ayodhya and Rs 150 crore for the expansion of Maharishi Valmiki International Airport in Ayodhya.
