What is Waldiyat (वल्दीयत)?

Land records comprise various details, which include personal information of the owner like his name and his father’s name. Waldiyat can be translated as father’s name in English. All land records in India must have the name of the owner’s father or mother.

Apart from land records, several states in India ask the applicants to provide details of their Waldiyat to apply for various government-run social welfare schemes, including the PM Kisan Yojana.
