Nativity certificate: Eligibility criteria

The following conditions have to be met for a candidate to receive a nativity certificate:

  • The resident should be a native of the particular state.
  • They should have documentary evidence proving they have lived there for five years or longer.

The following paperwork is required to obtain the nativity certificate: 

  • The birth certificate
  • Tenth certificate 
  • Any identity card
  • School transcripts for the parents 
  • A request form of nativity certificate

Nativity certificate: Procedure to apply for the certificate

Follow the steps listed below to apply for a nativity certificate: 

1. Visit a Tahsildar’s office in your state

The candidate should visit the department of a Sub-Divisional Magistrate, a Tehsildar, the Revenue Administration, the District Collector, or any other relevant body to obtain the application form. 

2. Submit a certificate application 

The applicant must carry the necessary paperwork and documents while applying for the certificate. 

3. Enter the information

You must supply the following information after getting the application form:

  • The applicant’s name 
  • Name of applicant’s father/husband 
  • Gender of the applicants
  • Residential address
  • Copy of ration card 
  • Copy of school diploma 
  • Information about parents’ immovable property in Tamil Nadu 
  • Date of submission 
  • The applicant’s signature

4. Sending the form to the authorities 

You should give the filled paperwork to the authorised officer. If the appropriate official requests it, the applicant must provide further documents for verification. After applying, the applicant will obtain the certificate in around two to three weeks. The certificate is suitable for a lifetime after you receive it.

 

Nativity certificate: What is CAN?

Citizen Access Numbers, or CANs, must use all e-Sevai services made available by specific divisions through TNeGA. 

If a potential applicant has a distinctive Citizen Access Number, they may request a nativity certificate. To obtain the nativity certificate application form, if the candidate still needs to get a certain CAN number, they must enrol for CAN.

 

Nativity certificate: How can I obtain a nativity certificate online? 

To apply for a nativity certificate online, follow the instructions below. 

  1. Provide your CAN number to locate the records. 
  2. The applicant’s information will appear in the search results if they have a certain CAN number. 
  3. Select the choice button next to the selected record and choose the desired document. 
  4. Select the proceed option. 
  5. Choose a nativity category based on your date of birth or where you live. 
  6. The form will have pre-filled applicant information. You cannot change these specifics.  
  7. The form will already have the applicant’s current address, permanent address, and contact information. You cannot change these specifics. 
  8. Give the addresses for the previous years. 
  9. Utilising the available fields, enter the information.
  10. To include more records, hit the “add” button. Documents that have been added will appear at the top. 
  11. Please be aware that you will be asked for your present address and the addresses for the last five years. 
  12. Additionally, if you choose “nativity by birth” under the certificate category, you do not need to complete this section. 
  13. Then click the submit option. The application form is closed by clicking “Cancel.” 
  14. A list of necessary documents will appear on the following screen. 
  15. Upload the needed documents with the provided criteria like file type and size. 
  16. At the bottom, uploaded documents will appear. 
  17. Any uploaded file may be deleted by using the cross signature. 
  18. Please be aware that when you browse and upload a document, the “upload” option will display.
  19. Pay the necessary amount. You’ll see a receipt for your acknowledgement. 
  20. To save the acknowledgement, click the print receipt option. 
  21. The request will be saved as a draft after submission. 
  22. The archived application portion is where applicants can locate draft requests. Here, you can also share the required files and make payments.
  23. Applications that have been completed can be seen in the submitted application portion.

You can also get the certificates that were issued on the same date from the webpage. To download the certificate, complete these steps: 

  1. To request a nativity certificate, go to the state’s registration site;
  2. Click the verify certificate button on the homepage;
  3. You’ll see a verification form appear;
  4. Click the appropriate choice in the form;
  5. Type the certificate number and verification code in the following prompt box;
  6. Select the search option;
  7. The certification will be viewable if the submitted information is accurate;
  8. To get the document as a pdf, click download.
