June 6, 2023: To resolve land disputes and allow allottees to take possession of plots, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (Yeida) plans to introduce a plot-relocation policy, according to media reports. Under the proposed policy, plots would be relocated to dispute-free locations, enabling allottees to get possession and use the encumbrance-free plot.
For instance, if in a sector, some plot owners get possession while a small group do not due to unresolved land issues, then the relocation policy will allow the authority to relocate the affected property owners to a new location where land is not under dispute, an official said.
Officials said the proposal is expected to be discussed and approved at the authority’s next board meeting on June 16, 2023.
In 2013, the Yeida launched an industrial plot scheme wherein the authority could not give possession to all allottees or develop roads and other facilities due to land disputes and court cases filed by farmers. Land disputes lead to development impediments, owing to which basic amenities such as roads and sewers are not developed in a particular region or sector. This deters allottees from taking possession of the plot.
The Yeida is responsible for the planned development of the industrial development area, and launches various group housing and commercial plot schemes.
