Bangalore Metro introduces mobile QR group ticketing system

The mobile QR tickets are available at a discount of 5% on the usual token fare.

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) has introduced a mobile QR ticketing system for the convenience of groups and families travelling together. This facility will be available from November 16, 2023. At present, mobile QR tickets are being issued to individual passengers through mobile applications like Namma Metro, WhatsApp, Yatra and Paytm. However, with this new system, mobile QR tickets can be issued for groups including a maximum of six passengers.

The mobile QR tickets are available at a discount of 5% on the usual token fare. Those who use this new ticketing system will receive a single QR ticket encrypted with the number of passengers. To use this ticket, it has to be scanned once for each passenger of the group at entry and exit points. Booking mobile tickets in advance with the help of this new system can help avoid long queues at the metro stations’ ticket counters.
