The Telangana Commissioner and Director of Municipal Administration (CDMA) has launched an official WhatsApp account, using which you can pay your property taxes. How to pay property tax in Telangana through WhatsApp?
Step 1: Send ‘Hi’ to +91 90002 53342, the CDMA’s official WhatsApp account.
Step 2: Currently, the chatbot is available in English and Telugu. To proceed, enter the language of your choice. For example, for English, type ‘B’.

Step 3: Choose the service you wish to avail of. Suppose, you wish to ‘Know and Pay Property Tax’, simply, enter ‘1’ in the chat window.
Step 4: When you enter ‘1’, you will be asked to proceed, to pay tax either through identification using your PTIN number or the house number. Make the selection and proceed to pay your property tax. Choose the service you wish to access and pay your property tax using your debit card, credit card or even internet banking. H.S.C
Talking about this initiative, KT Rama Rao, Telangana’s minister of municipal administration and urban development, said, “With close to 20 lakh property tax assessments across urban local bodies, our citizens are still paying their taxes through POS machines, or citizen service centres. In line with our Digital Telangana initiatives, we have introduced a citizen service on WhatsApp that has already yielded positive results and feedback.”

The CDMA is also planning to launch other services on the application, such as payment of water bills, COVID-19 vaccine, etc., so that it can be a one-stop platform for every service.
In Telangana, the CDMA is the highest authority, when it comes to municipal administration and it guides corporations and municipalities in performing their tasks, in tandem with the rules and regulations.
The CDMA also has the responsibility to supervise and monitor the execution and implementation of various schemes, such as the AMRUT, smart cities, etc.

Telangana’s ‘Early Bird Scheme’ gets an extension
As the property tax collections under the Early Bird Scheme have been encouraging, in spite of the COVID-19 pandemic, the scheme has got an extension till May 31, 2021. As per the CDMA office, Rs 101 crores was collected in 129 municipalities and 12 municipal corporations (excluding GHMC) in the state.
Under the scheme, the tax payer will get a 5% rebate on property tax. There are chances that the scheme may be further extended till June 30 due to the ongoing lockdown in the state.
Telangana property tax collection better, despite pandemic
Not just the economic growth and agriculture sector in the state, Telangana has shown recorded a higher property tax collection in FY 2020-21 than the last year. This time, Rs 703.32 crore was collected as property tax collections from 141 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) as against Rs.561.05 crore in FY 2019-20.
