The contractor M/s Larsen & Toubro used precast technology for ultra-rapid construction to build safe and durable homes. “‘Mission 96’ has showcased the Precast Technology capability to build with superior quality in a factory-controlled environment, reduced floor cycle time and low manpower availability risks,” says Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee, VC & MD, CIDCO. The speedy construction has helped fulfill the RERA norms of timely completion of projects.

‘Mission 96’ involved the production and installation of 1,985 precast elements of the superstructure along with architectural finishes and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing) works over a built-up area of 64,000 sq. ft. In addition to construction technology, digital technology was also used in this project to monitor the development of construction.

While ‘Mission 96’ is the first stage towards CIDCO’s objective of reducing construction time while not compromising on quality, the second stage was recently done when CIDCO made a record of casting 500 slabs in record 489 days. These slabs have been cast in Taloja’s sector-28,29,31 and 37 and these are part of a residential complex under the Mass Housing Scheme where CIDCO units are given to people through CIDCO lottery.

With this achievement, CIDCO while setting a new benchmark has also paved the way for fulfilling the PMAY scheme of “Housing for All” in the fastest way. CIDCO under PMAY provides the ‘Mass Housing Scheme’ based on ‘Transit Oriented Development’. Under the scheme, flats for EWS and LIG categories are being constructed in the various nodes of Navi Mumbai.
