Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) will proceed with the construction of 6.30 km long elevated road in Thane between Anand Nagar at Mulund Toll Naka and Saket on the Eastern Express Highway, mentions a FPJ report. MMRDA has allocated Rs 200 crore for this project. The construction of this elevated road will help decongest the arterial roads within Mumbai city. A go ahead for this project was given on November 21, 2022.
“Prior to the construction phase, we have to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) and appoint a project management consultant for the elevated road. For this, we have invited bids to appoint a consultant,” said the official. On the basis of the DPR, the MMRDA will come up with a tender to proceed with construction of the 6.30 KM long elevated road.
The proposed Anand Nagar Saket elevated road will connect with the planned extension of the Eastern Express Highway at Mulund. By taking steps to construct an elevated road in Thane, the first step has been taken to extend the Orange Gate-Ghatkopar Eastern Freeway upto Thane.
On the Eastern Express Highway, this elevated road will be constructed to be parallel to the existing flyovers and the under-construction Wadala-Ghatkopar-Thane-Ovale-Gaikmukh Metro corridor.
