Greater Noida starts work on Rs 60 cr development projects as poll code lifts

The authority has issued tenders for 36 projects including road, water, sewer and lighting works.

June 10, 2024: With the model code of conduct for the Lok Sabha elections lifted after two months, the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has intensified repair and maintenance activities across various sectors and villages as of June 7, 2024. The authority has issued tenders worth approximately Rs 60 crore for road, water, sewer, and lighting works, aiming to complete the tender process and begin work within a month.

 

The Election Commission lifted the model code of conduct on June 6, 2024, which had been in place since March 16 for the Lok Sabha polls. Greater Noida, part of Gautam Buddh Nagar, voted on April 26. Following the lifting of the poll code, GNIDA CEO NG Ravi Kumar ordered an acceleration of development and maintenance projects in Greater Noida’s sectors and villages. Consequently, the project, water, sewer, and electrical engineering departments have released tenders for 36 projects totaling around Rs 60 crore.

 

Key projects include Rs 6.46 crore for laying a line from MPS Sector 1 to a 20 MLD STP in Ecotech III, and Rs 4.91 crore for the operation and maintenance of a 15 MLD STP in Ecotech II. Approximately Rs 20 crore will be allocated for sewer system maintenance in sectors and villages within Zones I and III. Zone I includes sectors and villages such as Tigri, Shahberi, Haibatpur, and others, while Zone III covers areas like Ecotech II, KP I-IV, Alpha I-II, and several villages including Gurjapur and Surajpur.

 

Additional works involve road, drain, rainwater harvesting, and guard room construction in Sector Pi I’s Ganga Jal campus, boundary wall construction around the OHT in Ecotech I Extension, and similar infrastructure projects in Sectors KP-5, 1, 3, 4, 12A, Ecotech 15, and Mu II. The electrical engineering department has issued tenders for the electrification of community buildings in Sectors Gamma I-II, Delta I-II, and Beta I-II.

 

Lighting installation projects include works at the cremation ground in Malkapur, the baratghar in Bodaki, community centers, schools, playgrounds, cremation grounds and cemeteries. LED high mast lighting will be installed at the Surajpur court complex, with other lighting projects planned in several other villages.

 

The project department has also issued tenders for construction works worth approximately Rs 5.38 crore, which includes repairing the baratghar in Sadopur, the cremation ground in Bhanauta, and patch repairing roads.
