Customers can go to the official website of Indane and apply for refill of the LPG cylinder. They must provide details such as State, District, Distributor, Day, and Time slot.

GST rule and impact on domestic cooking gas

The Goods and Services Tax (GST), an indirect taxation system introduced on July 1, 2017, has increased the price of domestic LPG cylinders. GST charges are applicable on all domestic gas cylinders. The GST has eliminated other taxes that were imposed earlier, such as excise duty, surcharges, and service taxes.

As per the new GST rule, taxes are levied at the rate of 0%, 5%, 12%, 18%, and 28% GST. Domestic LPG cylinders are charged at the rate of 5% GST. Hence, this has a direct impact on the cost of cooking gas in India.

• Customers of Indane gas may see an increase of up to Rs.32 per LPG cylinder, depending on their state.
•  There has been a significant increase in prices of the domestic cylinders in the last six years. The previous increase was on June 25, 2011, when the price of domestic subsidised LPG was increased by Rs. 50.
• One household can receive 12 subsidised LPG cylinders of 14.2 kgs capacity per year. After that, one should buy the cylinder as per the market price, and a GST of 18% will be levied on the domestic LPG cylinders.
•  A GST rate of 18% is applicable on other services such as mandatory gas inspection, installation, and administration costs for procuring new LPG connections or additional cylinders.
• Some states that were not charging taxes on LPG cylinders, will now charge GST and witness a price increase of Rs 12 to Rs 15 on LPG gas.

What happens after online payment for a new gas connection?

• After your payment is made, the LPG distributor receives the online application. A subscription voucher (SV) will be generated.
• The SV will be emailed to the customer’s registered email ID as a PDF document.
• The gas agent will verify the documents during the online registration, when the LPG cylinder is delivered to the consumer.
• A physical copy of the subscription voucher (SV) is issued to the consumer after verification and signatures are received.

4. For the reconnection, pay the same deposit amount specified on the TV and collect the new Subscription Voucher (SV).
5. Upon registration, the distributor will provide a new LPG cylinder and pressure regulator, after the deposit amount is paid.

Transfer gas connection from one agency to another

1. Access the detailed records of the distributors on the gas company’s website and find out the gas agency details in the new locality.
2. Furnish a letter to the existing gas distributor, requesting for the transfer. Submit the gas regulator and gas connection voucher and the transfer letter. Surrender your existing cylinder and safety regulator, in case you are moving to another city.
3. You will get a refund of the deposit amount as specified in the Subscription Voucher (SV).
4. The existing gas distributor will provide the gas transfer voucher.
5. Submit a valid address proof along with identity proof and the gas transfer voucher to the new gas agency to get the Indane gas new connection.
6. Pay the necessary transfer charges, which may vary from one agency to another.
7. After the documents are submitted, the new gas agency will confirm the transfer. It will issue the new gas connection voucher mentioning the current address.
8. You can book a cylinder and get it delivered to your home in a few days.
