A road map for planning and executing the projects will be drawn soon in coordination with the Thane municipal commissioner.
MMRDA is also exploring options of constructing a road through parts of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP). To start at Mulund’s Shrinagar off the LBS road, the road will pass through the Yeour Hills, Indira Nagar, Lokmanya Nagar, the Upwan Lake, Manpada, Dongripada, Anand Nagar and end at Gaimukh at the Ghodbunder Road.
To pass through this 20-km stretch between Mumbai and Gaimukh, it takes nearly 1.5 hours, with this road. The road will cut the travel time to 10 minutes. It will also decongest Thane roads and ease traffic movement in Mulund, Airoli, Chembur, Palghar and Gujarat. Once the project is commissioned, it will take 2 years for completion.
