Noida Airport Phase-1 development to cost Rs 10,056 cr

70% of this amount has already been used up to build the upcoming airport in Jewar.

Phase-1 of the upcoming Noida Airport in Jewar would require a capital expenditure of Rs 10,056 crore, say officials. Nearly 70% of this amount (around Rs 7,100 crore) has already been used to develop the second airport in the national capital region, they added.

According to officials, machinery and workforce have been increased at the airport site to ensure the airport is completed on time. As many as 7,800 people are working day and night to complete the work as soon as possible, say officials.

While work to complete the terminal building of the airport is nearing completion, the construction of the runway and air traffic control building has been completed.

Being developed across an area of 1,300 hectare in the first phase, the Noida Airport is scheduled to open to the public in September this year. In this phase, the Noida Airport with one runway and one terminal will be equipped to handle an annual passenger traffic of 12 million.

The airport is about 72 km from the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, 52 km from Noida, and 130 km from Agra.
