Noida authority to build 35-km elevated road along Yamuna

The proposed road will help decongest the existing Noida-Greater Noida Expressway.

December 1, 2023: To boost connectivity between Noida and Greater Noida, the Noida Authority is planning to construct a 35-km elevated road along the Yamuna River above the embankment road, according to media reports. The proposed road will help decongest the existing Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and ensure easy connectivity between Jewar Airport and Noida.

As mentioned in an HT report, authority officials said the state wants to extend the road to the greenfield Noida International Airport, which will become operational by the end of 2024. The authority officials discussed the project details with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Uttar Pradesh irrigation department in a meeting held in Delhi to expedite work on this project.

Elevated road project details

The elevated road along the Yamuna River will start from Kalindi Kunj Barrage and end near Noida Sector 150. It will be later extended to Noida airport in Jewar and linked with Greater Noida’s Pari Chowk traffic intersection. This will make travel easy for those commuting between Delhi and Agra via Yamuna Expressway.

As cited in the report, Lokesh M, chief executive officer, Noida authority, said that the project will also offer seamless commute to Delhi commuters towards Greater Noida as it is also building a 5.96-km elevated road from Delhi’s Mayur Vihar to Mahamaya Flyover, which will be connected to the new elevated road.

The NHAI will be the authority responsible for developing the detailed project report and overseeing the road’s construction. Earlier, the Noida authority had planned to appoint the central government RITES as a consultant to prepare the detailed project report and build the project, Lokesh M said, as mentioned in the media report.

The NHAI and the irrigation department teams have already conducted an inspection of the site to decide the alignment of the new elevated road.
