May 31, 2024: The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) has recently received approval to extend the Aqua Line corridor to Greater Noida West. This development has come as a significant move to improve the connectivity between Noida, Greater Noida, and Delhi. This new rail network corridor will make it easy for commuters to travel to different parts of the capital from Noida and Greater Noida.
Under this extension project, 11 new metro stations will be added to the Aqua Line. These
stations include:
● Noida Sector 61
● Noida Sector 70
● Noida Sector 122
● Noida Sector 123
● Greater Noida Sector 4
● Ecotech 12
● Greater Noida Sector 2
● Greater Noida Sector 3
● Greater Noida Sector 10
● Greater Noida Sector 12
● Greater Noida Knowledge Park V
The extension of the corridor of the Aqua line is expected to span 17.43 kilometres. The total estimated cost of the whole project is expected to be Rs 2,991.60 crore. The interchange station at Sector 61 will play a crucial role in connecting the Aqua Line with DMRC’s Blue Line. The new metro line will reduce travel time for people and lower pollution levels as well. Apart from that, as there will be more commuters opting for the metro, the new line is expected to reduce traffic congestion on the roads.
