The Delhi Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) and the National Real Estate Development Council (Naredco) on April 27, 2023, formally launched the National Institute of Real Estate Development (NIRED). This national forum aims to improve the quality and productivity of work in the real estate, construction and infrastructure sectors by growing human resource capability.
At the Nextgen Real Estate Conclave organised by the Naredco on six years of the law, president Rajan Bandelkar said that the institute would offer a platform for everyone to enhance their knowledge and skills, making them industry-ready and contributing to the growth of the sector.
At the conclave, the industry body said that timely approval for projects by authorities was a big challenge, and the developer’s grievances should also be paid attention. “Customers got the due respect, and in these six years, the RERA has been able to get transparency and address the trust deficit in the sector,” said Bandelkar.
Developers at the conclave talked about the necessity of being able to complain about the delays by approval authorities and that the RERA should be able to communicate to the government authorities responsible for providing infrastructure facilities such as water and electricity on a timely basis, which plays a significant role in completing a project on time.
Anand Kumar, chairman, Delhi-RERA, said, “Authorities have far more responsibilities than before, and authorities like us cannot break them. We must ensure that every three months, we review the project; in case of difficulties faced by developers in delivering, we have to give an extension and explain it to the customers. We take the view of all the stakeholders and make decisions based on it”.
