Delhi’s Public Works Department (PWD) minister Satyendar Jain, in a tweet, said that the “Tender process has started for the construction of a skywalk and foot-over bridge at Mathura Road, Tilak Bridge, ITO.”
According to the department, the project will be completed at an estimated cost of Rs 44.23 crores in nine months, from the time the construction begins. A PWD official said that the bridge will come up at Pragati Maidan metro station and connect to nearby areas, including Tilak Lane railway station and ITO. Also, the skywalk will connect Tilak Marg, Sikandra Road, Mathura Road and Bahadurshah Zafar Marg, with ITO metro station and the Delhi High Court.

The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, added that the project would provide hassle-free movement to pedestrians at the busy ITO intersection. “Construction of the skywalk and FOB, will be carried out at the junction of Sikandra Road, Mathura Road, Tilak Marg and Bahadurshah Zafar Marg at W point and near Hans Bhawan (ITO),” an e-tender notice stated. It added that once the tender process is completed, both, the skywalk and the FOB will be constructed within nine months.
