Why is termite-proof furniture gaining popularity?

HDF and MDF stand out as versatile and viable solutions.

A dream home is a milestone in everyone’s life. However, this process, although challenging, feels rewarding when you see the outcome – a cosy home with elegant interiors! Plus, it should be able to tolerate harsh weather conditions and termite attacks.

Termites are the last thing you want in your new home. They can hollow out your home without any visible signs. By the time you notice, the damage is done. This is why termite-proof interiors are emerging as the need of the hour. In addition to sustainable wooden options, termite-proof varieties enhance your home’s interiors and ensure protection. High Density Fibreboard (HDF) and Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF) stand out as versatile and viable solutions to this problem.

HDF & MDF: A viable alternative for home interiors

Wooden interiors are susceptible to termites. Chemical treatments have been the traditional solution for ages. However, increasing environmental consciousness and chemical-related health risks have encouraged homeowners to search for alternative options. Hence, termite-proof interiors that are economically feasible, aesthetic and align with preferences, are becoming the new trend in interior décor.

Termite-resistant MDF is the key to termite-proof interiors

MDF is an engineered wood made by fusing hardwood fibres under high pressures and temperatures of up to 240 degrees Celsius, using synthetic resin and wax. Unlike solid wood, MDF is a sturdy, termite-resistant material that can be incorporated into interior design. It does not attract termites because it does not contain any natural sugars or starch.

Moreover, MDF can withstand heavy wear and tear, making it less prone to warping, cracking and splitting and a practical choice for termite-proof furniture. It is both cost-effective and saves time because it comes with pre-laminated options with limitless application and usage possibilities. Since MDF does not contribute to deforestation and leads to reduced emissions, it is a sustainable choice.

MDF comes in various options depending upon application:

  1. HDWR MDF – Perfect protection from water and moisture damage
  2. Interior Grade MDF – Ideal for creating elegant interiors
  3. Exterior Grade MDF – Craft durable outdoor projects
  4. FRMDF – Safeguard your space from fire damage

They come with uniform thickness and a homogenous structure, making them an ideal and reliable option for termite-proof interiors.

To sum up

Termites are the natural enemies of wood. In India, where climatic conditions are diverse, MDF finds versatile applications due to its ability to withstand extreme climatic conditions. This makes MDF a viable option for homeowners who desire termite-proof interiors that are sustainable, durable and affordable.
