May 18, 2023: Road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari today said the country’s first elevated eight-lane access control Dwarka Expressway would be ‘almost completed’ in April 2024. The 29.6-km project is being built at a cost of Rs 9,000 crore.

The 34-metre-wide expressway was being constructed on 18.9-km single pillar in Haryana and 10.1- km in Delhi, the minister said. Gadkari was inspecting the expressway today along with Delhi lieutenant-governor Vinay Kumar Saxena, ministers of state VK Singh & Rao Inderjit Singh, and members of Parliament Pravesh Singh Verma & Ramesh Bidhuri.

Interacting with the media, Gadkari said the road network of this expressway was of four levels. He said the flyover was being constructed over a tunnel, an underpass, a grade road, an elevated road and a flyover. A three -lane service road is being constructed on both sides of the expressway.

The minister said the country’s widest eight-lane tunnel of 3.6-km length was being built on this expressway in Delhi. The expressway would improve the connectivity between Haryana and west Delhi, and to the Indira Gandhi International Airport, Gadkari said.

In Haryana, this expressway will intersect the Pataudi Road (the SH-26) near Harsaru and Farukhnagar (the SH-15A) near Basai. Apart from this, it will also cross the Delhi-Rewari Rail Line near Gurgaon Sector-88 (B) and UER-II at Bharthal. He said the expressway would connect Sector 21 of Gurgaon with sectors 88, 83, 84, 99, 113 and Dwarka to Global City. This expressway would be equipped with an intelligent transport system, he added.
