All you need to know about Noida Authority

The UP government notified the New Okhla Industrial Development Area under the UP Industrial Development Act, 1976 and created the Noida Authority to implement planned development of the city

Amid rising pressure on existing infrastructure in India’s national capital Delhi, which forced authorities to find alternatives in the national capital region (NCR), the city of Noida came into existence on April 17, 1976, under the UP Industrial Area Development Act, 1976. The Noida Authority was created, to execute a planned development of a city that was once a land mass consisting of 36 villages of UP’s Bulandshahar district.

The name Noida is actually short for both, the city (New Okhla Industrial Development Area) and the authority that governs it (New Okhla Industrial Development Authority).
