This Rs 17,840-crore project connects South Mumbai from Sewri to Nhava-Sheva in Navi Mumbai.  PM Modi had laid the foundation stone of the MTHL in December 2016. It is a 21.8 km, 6-lane bridge . Of this, 16.5 km is a sea link.

With this sea-bridge, the financial capital of India will enjoy improved connectivity to the Navi Mumbai International Airport. Travel time to Pune and Goa will also be reduced, and this will aid in better connectivity between the Mumbai Port and the Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT).
