May 10, 2023: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate 42,441 Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) houses built with a project cost of Rs 1,946 crore in Gujarat on May 12, 2023.
According to a statement by the Gujarat state, at the Amrit Awasotsav to be held at Mahatma Mandir convention centre, Modi will participate in the griha pravesh of 18,997 houses built under the PMAY. He will also inaugurate another 19,113 houses constructed in urban and rural areas via video link. Of this, 7,113 houses are under PMAY-Urban and 12,000 houses are under PMAY-Grahmin.
Additionally, Modi will perform a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of another 4,331 houses under PMAY-Urban, said the statement. It added that the houses under PMAY are constructed in 3,740 villages in Gujarat.
“Seven beneficiaries of each of the PMAY-Urban scheme and the PMAY-Grahmin scheme will be given keys to the houses at the event. The PM will interact with beneficiaries through video link and then address the programme,” added the statement.
Gujarat has constructed 11.56 lakh houses under the PMAY. Of this, 4.06 lakh houses are built under the PMAY-Grahmin, and 7.50 lakh units under the PMAY-Urban.
