January 29, 2024: A total of 32 members have defaulted in paying the property tax with arrears to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) even after repeated reminders.
According to the PMC, the total outstanding amount is Rs 16,02,73,204.
Under rules 42 to 47 of Chapter VIII (Taxation Rules) of Schedule ‘D’, all the properties have been confiscated by the municipal corporation. To recover the property tax, these properties are intended to be sold to the public through an auction. The PMC posted a notice regarding the same on the social media platform X (previously Twitter).
The auction will be held on February 5, 2024, between 12- 3 PM. To participate in the auction, interested people can visit https://pmc.gov.in/mr/auction-of-arrears-of-income-through-the-Income-tax-department. Note that you can access this website in both Marathi and English.
The last date for submission of applications for the auction is January 31, 2024. To participate in the said auction process, you need to have a Tender Key (DSC- Digital Signature).

Property holders can redeem their properties from the municipal corporation by paying the property tax before the auction, as per the PMC notice.
