UP Cabinet nod for DPR of Noida Metro extension to Boraki

March 7, 2024: The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet on March 6 approved the detailed project report for extension of the Noida Metro’s Aqua Line corridor from Depot station to Boraki, where a multi-modal transport hub is in the offing, news agency PTI reported. To be built at a cost of Rs 416 crore, the 2.60-km extension will have two new stations, the report said citing officials.  The proposal will now be sent to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for its approval.

The MMTH Boraki site, slated to become a bustling multimodal transportation hub encompassing essential facilities such as railway passenger terminal and bus terminal, will now benefit from the inclusion of metro connectivity, said NMRC managing director Lokesh M.

NMRC submits plan for Noida Metro Extension to UP govt

The Noida Metro Rail Corporation has submitted a detailed project report (DPR) to the UP government to extend the Aqua Line Metro corridor from Sector 142 to Botanical Garden. If the plan gets approval, the Noida Metro authority will develop eight stations as part of the extension.  The planned stations include Botanical Garden, Noida Sector 44, Noida Office, Noida Sector 97, Noida Sector 105, Noida Sector 108, Noida Sector 93 and Panchsheel Balak Inter College. While the route will culminate at the existing Noida Sector 142 station, Botanical Garden will serve as an interchange station between NMRC’s Aqua Line and Delhi Metro’s Magenta and Blue Lines. Covering a total length of 11.56 km, the project is Rs estimated to cost Rs 2,254.35 crore.

Aqua Line extension DPR tweaked for better connect with Delhi Metro: NMRC

December 12, 2023: The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) on December 11 said that it has made a tweak in the Noida Metro (Aqua Line) Extension detailed project report (DPR) with a view to offer seamless connectivity with the Delhi Metro Blue Line.

“There is constraint of seamless connectivity between Sector-51 station of Aqua Line and Sector-52 station of Blue Line of Delhi Metro. Although a foot-overbridge has been planned to connect Sector 51 (Aqua Line) and Sector 52 (Blue Line) stations, it is not going to resolve commuters’ problem permanently owing to a 430-metre distance between the two stations,” said NMRC managing director Lokesh M.

A permanent solution has been worked out for seamless connectivity of the two lines by a slight change in alignment of extension of the Aqua Line going up to Knowledge Park-V. “Action has already been initiated to carry out these changes in the DPR. The revised DPR will be processed soon for approvals,” he said.

Noida Metro starts UPI payment facility for counter tickets

August 17, 2023: The NMRC has introduced a Unified Payments Interface (UPI) payment feature for buying tickets on counters across all the stations. The facility will provide passengers the ease of ticket purchasing, and they will no longer have to look for change to buy tickets. NMRC managing director Lokesh M launched the UPI payment facility at Sector 51 Station. However, passengers will continue to have the option to use cash, debit card or credit card to pay for their metro tickets on the Aqua Line.

He also said that improving last-mile connectivity was crucial to support growth of the public transport system. “We can increase the number of riders only if we provide better last-mile connectivity to our users and to make that happen we need to introduce the e-rickshaws and buses,” he said.
