To provide affordable and quality housing options to Telangana’s citizens, the state government formed the Telangana Housing Board (THB) in June 2014, right after the division of the state from Andhra Pradesh. Earlier, the organisation was working as the City Improvement Board and Town Improvement Trust of Twin Cities, which were functioning since 1911. The THB’s primary aim is to fulfil the housing demand in the state. Here is everything you need to know about Telangana Housing Board (THB) and its upcoming housing scheme.
Telangana Housing Board: Roles and responsibilities

Telangana Housing Board: Allotment procedure
The Telangana Housing Board comes out with a notification for allotment of under-construction and ready-to-move-in units. All the important details pertaining to the houses, such as the cost of home, area, plot size, locality and other details, are provided in the Telangana Housing Board notification. Usually, an applicant is required to pay 10%-15% of the total cost of the unit as the earnest money deposit (EMD). Currently, the application procedure is completely offline and the Telangana Housing Board application form is available at the Estate Officer’s chamber. The duly filled forms have to be deposited before the final date. All Telangana Housing Board houses for sale have similar eligibility which include:
- The applicant should not own a house in any urban area of Telangana.
- The applicant’s annual income should be within the income ceiling limits fixed by the apex body.
Also, a lottery draw is only held when the number of applications received are more than the number of houses available. In addition to this, there is a quota reserved for SC/ST/OBC applicants, in the total pool of houses.
All successful applicants need to pay the balance amount within three months from the date of intimation and execute the agreement for sale within 30 days from the date of intimation. All those applicants who have opted for balance-equated instalments, are required to pay 1.5% as penal interest if the payment is delayed.
