Established in 1978, the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) works towards the planned and sustainable development of Ahmedabad. Note that its jurisdiction is outside that of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC). The AUDA is in charge of not just the city’s planning but also formulating and submitting development plans and new schemes for environmental improvement of urban land use policy. Master plans, new township plans, town improvement schemes, facilitating affordable housing construction and integrated townships and ensuring judicious use of government land – all of these and more are within the ambit of the AUDA.

Here are the steps to apply for the scheme online:
- Visit the AUDA website and click on the official notification of the AUDA new housing scheme in Ahmedabad 2021
- Download the pdf and read the terms and conditions.
- Click on apply online. Then, complete the AUDA Ahmedabad housing application form online. Provide details such as name, date of birth, father’s name, mobile number, address, etc.
- Submit the application form along with the relevant documents.

AUDA and Building permission
In case you require permission for construction or wish to check the status, follow these steps:
Step 1: Log on to the official website or click here.
Step 2: If you do not have a login and password, then, register by clicking on the ‘My User Registration’ link.
Step 3: Click on ‘New PRM application’ for building development permission and ‘New CMP Application’ for obtaining building usage permission.
Step 4: Fill all the mandatory fields and submit the application. Upon submission, you will receive an SMS/email with your application reference number.

Documents required for building permit application
When submitting an application for building construction permit, you should also submit the following:
- Declaration of owner and all persons‐on‐record (PoR).
- Photographs of the plot from each direction.
- Application form duly filled and signed by all owners.
- Record of Right of land
- Original 7/12 / 6/8 extract, property‐register card, Sanad, (not more than six months), photo identity proof, etc.
- Resolution of the cooperative society, in case of sub‐plot/ tenement holder‐ship and BA / FSI allotted.
- Part‐plan and zoning certificate (from AUDA Drawing Branch).
- Other required documents relevant to the particular case (as per the GDCR).
- The Application must be submitted to the chief executive authority (CEA) of AUDA.

Note: The application is available for sale from the public relation officer (PRO) of the department or it can be applied for online. Also, the maximum stipulated period for approval of the building permission application is 90 days.

Is there a fee payable for building permit?
Yes, besides the fee that you pay for scrutiny by the authority that ranges between Rs 5 and Rs 1,000 per sq metre, the remainder of the fee will be as per the General Development Control Regulation (GDCR).

AUDA oversees the implementation of town planning schemes (TP schemes). AUDA makes it possible to take possession of land for roads as soon as a draft TP scheme is sanctioned and the development authority can recover the cost of infrastructure provision in the form of land.
