IMC Indore property tax: How to calculate Indore Nagar Nigam property tax?

Property owners in Indore are required to pay the IMC Indore property tax levied by the civic body. The nagar nigam property tax rates in Indore vary from one region to another within the city. For calculation of the property tax in Indore, two factors are taken into consideration: plinth area and current rental value per sq ft.

Here are the steps involved in calculating the IMC Indore property tax:

  1. The first step involves measuring the plinth area, which is the total built-up area of the property, including garages and balconies.
  2. The next step involves determining the property’s monthly rental value or MRV per sq ft, according to the current market rates.
  3. Then, the Indore Nagar Nigam property tax is calculated, on the basis of the two values, using the formula mentioned below:

Annual property tax (for residential property) = [PAMRV 12 (0.17-0.30)] – [10% (depreciation)] + [8% (library cess)]
